Heading for Ushant Island
Discover the island at the end of the world
It is the most westerly island in France: Ouessant, located 25 kilometres off the coast of Finistère.
Accessible to the curious all year round, Ushant Island is accessible from the port of the village of Le Conquet. This small Breton village will immediately seduce you with its beautiful old stone houses, lining the length of the busy port. You can even take the time to lose yourself in the narrow streets of the town to discover its historical heritage!
Then head back to the port of Le Conquet: this is where the Penn Ar Bed boat will be waiting for you. Allow between 40 minutes and 1h15 for the crossing with or without a stopover on the island of Molène. Four trips to Ushant are organised each day during the summer.
Once you arrive on the island known as the sentinel island, don't miss the Stiff lighthouse, which is open to visitors from April to September from 11am to 5pm: you can enjoy a magnificent view of the island and the sea from its summit.
Then, set off to discover the wild landscapes that make up Ouessant. To make the most of your day out, we advise you to hire a bike once you are on the island and to follow the guide to bike rides available at the island's Tourist Office.
Alternatively, you can opt for a guided tour by minibus or minicar once you arrive at the port.
Practical information:
- Book your crossing to Ushant: www.pennarbed.fr/en/
- We strongly advise you to think about withdrawing cash before boarding the boat to Ushant: ATMs are limited in number on the island and withdrawing money can sometimes be complicated.
